Maya Hudson

- Moot court co-chair -

Maya Hudson is a third-year commerce student specializing in Organizational Behaviour with a concentration in Business Law. She discovered her passion for law in her high school legal studies course and represented her school in debates, trials, and business case competitions. She has previously competed in Mock Trial and placed first in both the regional and public criminal competition.

After being on the litigation side of things and joining the UBC Moot Court team in 2024 as the logistics coordinator, she is excited to get to work organizing the trial for the 2025 season. Outside of school and moot, she enjoys being a plant mom, finding new TV shows, and listening to Hozier on loop.

Olivia Iafano

Liv Iafano (She/Her/Hers) is a third-year student at the Sauder School of Business, specializing in Organizational Behaviour with a concentration in Business Law. She was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, where she attended De La Salle Oaklands College. Liv has been interested in the legal field since high school and plans to attend law school after finishing her undergraduate degree.

Liv is an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta and is currently serving as their Judicial Delegate on the Panhellenic Judicial Committee. In her free time, Liv enjoys listening to Hozier and petting dogs she meets on campus. This is her second year on the UBC Moot Court Executive Team, and she looks forward to seeing the upcoming year's successes.

 
 

John Natcher

- Moot court co-chair -

John Natcher is a third-year student at the University of British Columbia, pursuing a double major in Political Science and International Relations. John is deeply interested in international law and global politics, which inform his academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. As the Vice President of the UBC Pre-Law Association, John is dedicated to educating his peers on legal studies and careers in law. His role involves organizing events, workshops, and guest lectures that engage students with the practical aspects of law.

John is also an active United Nations Millennium Fellow. In this capacity, he collaborates with fellow students to promote sustainable practices on campus, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative includes projects integrating sustainability into various aspects of campus life and beyond. Previously, John worked as a research assistant at the High North Center for Business and Governance at Nord University in Bodø, Norway. There, he contributed to research focused on how Arctic communities adapt and remain resilient in the face of climate change and other global challenges.

This year, John is excited to serve as a Co-Director for the UBC Moot Court with the Political Science Student Association. He is committed to enhancing the conference by introducing unique cases and styles, aiming to expand its scope and impact on participants.

Yalda Khaje

- Case competition editor -

Yalda Khaje is an incoming second-year student in the Faculty of Arts, intending to major in Cognitive Systems with a specialization in Cognition and the Brain. She has an extensive political science and economics background and applies those skills to exploring the legal atmosphere in Vancouver. This is Yalda's first year involved in the UBC Moot Court Conference as a Case Competition Editor. She uses her background in writing professional and opinion pieces to generate this year's case brief for Moot Court.

Yalda is involved in various organizations on campus advocating for climate literacy and sustainability awareness, educating underprivileged children, and volunteering at multiple clinics and hospitals. Ultimately, Yalda aspires to attend law school and enter corporate litigation and securities law. Beyond academic and professional work, she enjoys skiing and hiking, reading, and playing intramural sports. Yalda is committed to fostering equity and diversity in legal proceedings, particularly in healthcare and education.

Sophia Farrah

- Marketing Coordinator -

Sophia Farrah is a third-year student majoring in Sociology with a minor in Law and Society. Her passion for law developed in high school and has only grown during her time at UBC, particularly through the Coordinated Arts Program Law and Society Stream, of which she is now an alumna. She aspires to attend law school after her undergraduate degree to pursue a legal career and is interested in corporate, environmental, and international law.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Sophia has worked as a retail stylist for over three years. Working for Aritzia and Groupe Dynamite has allowed her to cultivate strong customer service and teamwork skills. Through her experience, she understands the value of intentional branding, knowledge she plans to leverage into her marketing role. This year, Sophia will also contribute to UBC Yoga Club as their External Coordinator, helping to support the club’s online presence. During her spare time, she enjoys hiking, baking, obsessing over her cat Leo, and a good book. Sophia is excited to apply her creative and analytical skillset to support this year’s Moot Court Conference!

Niyati Anand

- Finance Coordinator -

Niyati Anand is a fourth-year International Relations major with a minor in Spanish Studies. She chose to major in IR because of its intersectionality and dynamic approach toward global issues. She is profoundly interested in human rights, conflict management, social justice, immigration-related issues and international law.

Moreover, she wants to pursue international law in future. She will be working as the financial coordinator at the UBC Moot Court, and her role will be to manage the financial logistics and help arrange funding for fun Moot Court social and academic events! She is very excited to connect with like-minded peers at the UBC Moot Court who share her interest and enthusiasm for law!

 
 

Jatinder Brar

- Logistics Coordinator -

Jatinder Brar is a fourth-year Political Science student at UBC who has always had a passion for law. She has voluntary experience with court systems and enjoys a structured debate. Committed to social justice, she actively seeks to assist those with limited access to support and fosters a safe environment for those around her. In her free time, Jatinder enjoys reading and discovering new hiking trails.

Amteshwar Brar

Amteshwar Brar is a fourth-year Political Science student with the aspiration of becoming a lawyer. She joined Moot Court to support its endeavours to be a platform to connect students with each other and professionals while also teaching them the tools and skills required of them in their desired field of work. With her passion for law, she's excited to create a meaningful, educational, and fun experience at the Moot Court Conference.

Outside of her studies, Amteshwar stays busy volunteering on campus and in the community, including coaching high school rugby and will soon be rugby refereeing. In her free time, she enjoys painting, binge-watching Netflix, and taking care of her hamster!

Laiba Muhammad

- PR Coordinator -

Laiba is a second-year Commerce student who intends to specialize in Marketing and Business Technology Management. She is passionate about learning, knowledge, and making education accessible. Whether it is through innovative PR strategies or finding new ways to share UBC Moot Court’s work, she loves bringing ideas to life.

In her free time, you’ll find her watching mystery movies or listening to Mitski.

Avneet Natt

- PR Coordinator -

Avneet Natt is a second-year student at the University of British Columbia, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Law and Society. As an aspiring law student, Avneet is passionate about equity, social justice, and community engagement. She is dedicated to using her knowledge and skills to advocate for human rights and drive positive social impact both locally and globally.

In her free time, Avneet enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time in nature, which allows her to find balance and inspiration outside of her academic and professional pursuits.
